History
Türmerleim was founded by Ferdinand Pfeiffer in Ludwigshafen in 1889. The production of adhesives rapidly developed into the core business and has remained so until today.
Since those days, adhesives technology has made enormous progress. Adhesives on a natural basis such as starch, dextrin or casein still feature largely in our product portfolio. In addition, synthetic adhesives have assumed a more important role in the meantime and today play the main role in the market. In this class of products, we are represented particularly strongly with dispersions based on polyvinyl acetate and with hot- melt adhesives.
Since 1946, we have been the marketing partner of BASF SE for its Kaurit® glues*) in bonding. In this field, beside the Kaurit® glues*), the Kauramin® glues*) based on melamine now play an important role; this applies particularly to the sector of engineered wood, which we have been managing since 1982.
In order to take account of the increased production volumes, a new plant was erected in Schifferstadt in 1990 in addition to the main site in Ludwigshafen. This has been consistently extended since then in order to provide the basis for further growth.
In 1992, Türmerleim AG in Basel, Switzerland, was established and is now responsible for the Swiss and French markets now.
Türmerleim, a family enterprise in the fourth generation, constantly takes up the challenges of the market anew and, thanks to its expertise, its committed staff and its effective R&D, is very well equipped for the requirements of customers and the future.
